ZTE Iceberg is a smartphone with a double Notch

ZTE, a Chinese multinational telecommunications company, has recently “leaked” images of their upcoming smartphone called Iceberg. The said phone has apparently earned an entry into the World Design Guide for a design award.

One of the key aspects of its design which has resulted in its entry is not anything new or unique. In fact, the phone has a notch, but it has two of them – one at the top and the other one at the bottom. This has been done to achieve the right proportions of the display unit because a single notch at the top can make the screen appear a bit odd especially when viewing it in the landscape mode. Having a notch at the bottom will make it more proportionate to look at whichever way the phone is held.

Secondly, with this design choice, ZTE has been able to incorporate a loudspeaker into each notch. Along with the front of the phone, the back is also glass but it doesn’t stop there. Instead of a conventional metal chassis or a frame to hold the phone together, another piece of glass has been used as a frame making the whole thing appear like it’s carved out of a single piece of glass. To put it dramatically, it looks like an ice piece, hence the name Iceberg.

According to the company, the phone is supposed to be launched after 2017, which should be anytime this year quite naturally. Also, the phone is aimed at Asian, European and North American market.

By the looks of it, Iceberg should at least be an upper mid-range device. I would personally assume it to be a high-end phone powered by a Snapdragon 845 and 6 GB of RAM. That should make it a complete drool-worthy package. Assumptions aside, we are expecting to hear more of it in the coming weeks.

Keep watching this space for more updates.
