Xiaomi has just launched the long awaited Mi 6X smartphone which is an upgrade to the highly successful Mi 5X. Globally, the Xiaomi Mi 5X is sold as the Mi A1, and likewise, the Mi 6X is going to be the Mi A2 for all markets outside China, including India.
The Xiaomi Mi 6X has been launched in three variants –
4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage (1599 Yuan)
6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage (1799 Yuan)
6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage (1999 Yuan)
All three variants share the same processor – Snapdragon 660. Apparently, this shall be the most value for money Snapdragon 660 equipped smartphone especially when it hits the Indian market as the Mi A2. The direct conversion to the Indian currency appears to be – Rs 16,908, Rs 19,023 and Rs 21,132. Compared to this, the Nokia 7 Plus also has the Snapdragon 660 chipset and it is priced at Rs 25,999 which is around Rs 5,000 higher than the most expensive Xiaomi Mi 6X variant.
Please note that these are only converted prices for a basic comparison, there is no word so far about the phone’s Indian launch.
XIAOMI MI 6X SPECS AND FEATURES
Other than having the Snapdragon 660 processor along with three RAM and memory options, the Mi 6X gets the AI powered dual camera setup at the back, which Xiaomi claims is even better than the one in iPhone X and the Oppo R15. Clearly, the new camera is the phone’s biggest talking point.
The dual camera setup is comprised of 12 MP + 20 MP primary and secondary lenses respectively. Both sensors are from Sony – IMX486 as the primary and the IMX376 for the secondary. The aperture size for both lenses is f1.75 which is pretty impressive for its segment. The AI feature is programmed to read the scene-to-be-captured and is supposed to adjust the light and color accordingly. Official camera samples do look impressive, but we have to wait and see for ourselves how good it really is.
Furthermore, there are 12 different Portrait mode settings and as it is expected, the AI is supposed to learn and improve over the time to judge scenes better as well as provide better Portrait images. The main camera can record 4k videos at 30 fps. At the front too, there’s an AI-enabled 20 MP camera.
Additionally, the Snapdragon 660 processor comes with Adreno 512 GPU. The phone promises impressive multimedia experience (including gaming) on a new 5.99-inch IPS LCD display which delivers Full HD+ (1080 x 2160) resolution. Also, compared to the Mi 5X/A1, the display now has 18:9 aspect ratio and is more of a full-screen display.
The battery is a respectable 3,010 mAh unit and it supports fast charging with QC3.0 which will charge the phone up to 50% in as quickly as 30 minutes. Lastly, the Mi 6X gets a USB type-C port.
Now that the Xiaomi Mi 6X is launched in China, it shall be made available to other market, including India, soon enough as the Xiaomi Mi A2. Keep watching this space for more information on this.
