Vivo and Qualcomm have come together for the former’s expansion in Europe and Africa in 2018. While the Chinese company is quite well known and has a decent foothold in its homeland as well as in India, its existence in the European continent is almost non-existent.
To make this happen, Vivo and Qualcomm has signed a $ 4 billion memorandum deal which includes sharing of technological know-how and the development of devices that would include 5G technology. Furthermore, the two companies will work together in developing and polishing a more technically sophisticated fingerprint sensor.
Apparently, Vivo is the first and the only company so far which has demoed a screen integrated fingerprint sensor only few months back. The company has also recently launched the X20 smartphone with a face recognition feature called Face Wake. But it is not as radical as iPhone X’s Face ID. To turn this around, both Vivo and Qualcomm will also be working on developing a 3-dimensional face recognition system.
Vivo has also announced a V7+ smartphone which would be a lower mid-range device. The handset is powered by the Qualcomm 450 processor and comes with 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM depending on the market. The screen is a huge 5.99 inches with an 18:9 aspect ratio and delivers 720 x 1440 pixel resolution. The X20 mentioned earlier, on the other hand, comes with the Qualcomm 660 processor and 6 GB of RAM. The screen is 5.8 inches and delivers 1080 x 2160 pixel resolution.
