Couple of weeks back, I was surfing internet aimlessly and that was the time when I saw the Smartisan Jianguo Pro. I was amazed by its build quality and rectangular design. Because the smartphone is exclusively available in China, very less people outside China know about this phone. Yet, we decided to buy the handset and let people know about this awesome handset.
The Smartisan Jianguo Pro is available in three storage variants – 32GB, 64GB and 128 priced at INR 14,999, INR 17,999 and INR 23,480. Apart from storage, there are two more significant difference between them. The 32GB variant only has 12 megapixel front camera and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor, whereas 64GB and 128 variants have 16 megapixels rear camera and are powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 626.
Physical Appearance and Display: Smartisan Jianguo Pro Unboxing
The smartphone has been beautifully crafted and the company is promoting it as a unique and outstanding designed phone which is true. It has simplified and elegant industrial design and UI. The lower part of the phone (below display) is unnecessarily bigger which could be a problem for people who have small hands, they won’t be able to reach every corner of the screen easily. The fingerprint sensor is placed below the display.
The 5.5 inch full HD display is crisp and sharp. It shows realistic colors and the touch is very smooth. Typing on the handset works like a charm. Unfortunately, I felt some difficulty under direct sunlight. Coming to the back, the handset sports iPhone 4s like glass back-panel which looks classy. The handset is packed inside a rectangle frame. The dual camera setup of the handset is placed right where iPhone 7 is.
User Interface and Performance
The handset runs Smartisan OS based on Android. The operating system isn’t highly customized but it does have some pretty cool features, precisely two. One is ‘Big Bang’ and another one is ‘One Step’. Big Bang allows you to copy, edit and share the text from any screen, whereas One Step offers you a sidebar utility in which you can keep your selected apps; allowing you to switch apps faster. As soon as you activate the feature, your present screen will shrink to 5 inch display and rest of the part will start showing you a sidebar and top bar.
Much like the iPhones, it doesn’t have any home screen. As soon as you unlock the device, you get to see the app drawer. For a home screen, you need to install some different launchers.
Coming to the performance, I didn’t expect much as it has a lower mid-range processor. We have the 64GB variant of this handset, means it has Snapdragon 626 processor. As expected, the handset is good at handling multi-tasking. Most of the games ran smoothly. One thing I would like to say, it has a heating issue. The handset starts heating in just 15 minutes. In about 30 minutes, the handset heated to an extent level. But fortunately, the game was running smoothly. I played Asphalt 8: Airborne and Modern Combat 5: Blackout.
Camera: Smartisan Jianguo Pro Camera Sample
The Smartisan Jianguo Pro has dual camera setup on the rear and trusts me, it clicks amazing photos. Daylight images taken from this device are very good, while the HDR images are even better. The handset is able to capture both the light and dark part with maintaining enough details and sharpness. You can only find some noise when you zoom those images to 100 percent but overall daylight and HDR images are very good.
Images taken indoor are also good but the Jianguo Pro fails to produce vibrant colors. Pictures look a bit cold and miss to capture details. Zooming the image brings blurriness. Lowlight images are taken from this device also look good but only when you haven’t zoomed those in. As soon as you zoom in, you will see graininess and objects in motion are hard to capture.
One thing I would like to mention that all the pictures taken from this device look very good and is satisfactory for normal users. Advanced users might not be happy with the camera performance. Here are samples taken by Jianguo Pro:

The Smartisan Jianguo Pro has 3,500 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging functionality. In terms of battery, this handset reminds me of Moto G4 Plus which also gets charged pretty quickly. The Jianguo Pro takes only 100 minutes to fully charge the battery but as I said, the handset drains also quickly if you’re playing heavy games. During normal usage, the battery easily lasts a day.
Conclusion: Smartisan Jianguo Pro Performance
To be true, I really want this smartphone to be launched in emerging markets including India as a large number of people go for mid-range smartphones. The handset sports premium class build quality and decent specifications. The handset is able to handle multi-tasking and heavy gaming nicely though it has the heating issue. Its camera performance is also good.
