Sharp Aquos R2 unveiled with a small Notch and Snapdragon 845 processor

Before all-touch smartphones became a trend, Sharp made some impressive looking clamshell mobile phones. But the company has been making a number of smartphones under its Aquos R lineup.

Now, Sharp has unveiled its latest smartphone, Aquos R2, with a trendy design and Qualcomm’s latest chipset. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor along with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 400 GB. The operating system onboard is based on Android Oreo.

At the front, Sharp Aquos R2 has a large 6-inch display and it is a high-speed IGZO IPS LCD panel. It delivers 1440 x 3040 pixels resolution which is pretty sharp. Unsurprisingly enough, the display sports a small notch at the top which is basically a cutout for the front camera. There’s also a Home button at the bottom.

Sharp Aquos R2 dual camera

However, the biggest talking point of the phone is its rear dual camera setup which has a dedicated lens for video recording. There’s a pair of 22.6 MP and 16.3 MP lenses at the back out of which the later is specifically meant to perform video recording duties. It is capable of recording 4k videos and does at a wide 135-degree angle. There is an AI feature which takes pictures automatically while recording.
