It is often reiterated that no software is completely foolproof. Rarest or the least harmful, some bug, an anomaly or an issue is always there or can crop in any software made by man. However, some softwares are more vulnerable than others.

On that note, given the open nature of Android, it is quite susceptible to bugs/issues/hacking in general. Recently, OnePlus has confirmed that there is indeed an issue related to the Bootloader in its latest OnePlus 6 smartphone making the device vulnerable to hackers or even to someone with half a knowledge of exploiting this situation.

Apparently, an issue with OnePlus 6’s bootloader allows a person to load random images even when the bootloader is completely (as it is usually). It can’t be done remotely though and the person has to have physical access to the device. Nevertheless, it is a serious issue.

OnePlus is working on a software update to fix this issue as soon as they can and the same will be released for all OnePlus 6 owners to download. The company has commented, “We take security seriously at OnePlus. We are in contact with the security researcher, and a software update will be rolling out shortly”.
