OnePlus 6 has finally become official and voila, it comes with a notch! That’s so unique! On a serious note though, I’m actually wondering if Apple execs would be sitting in their office, laughing their hearts out right now as they are watching their notch design becoming such a hot trend. I mean, everyone is trying to be an iPhone here (which they will never admit in this lifetime). Once again, Apple isn’t even the one to do it first.

the Notch! wow

Well, coming back to the phone for which this piece of news is all about – OnePlus 6. The latest OnePlus phone has 2 firsts for the company, 1) it gets a notch and 2) it measures 6.28 inches which is the biggest display for a OnePlus smartphone so far. Furthermore, the display throws a Full HD+ resolution (1080p x 2280p) and now supports both sRGB and DCI-P3 colors.

According to OnePlus, the display spans 84% of the entire frontend.

Coming to the power punch the OnePlus 6 packs, there’s the Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chipset onboard and it is accompanies by 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. There are 3 storage options – 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. None is expandable, unsurprisingly.

OnePlus 6 camera

Moving on to one of the most important features, the camera – there’s a dual camera setup at the back with a 16 MP + 20 MP combination of primary and secondary lenses. Both lenses have an aperture size of f1.7 which should promise good lowlight images while it’s only the 16 MP primary lens that gets the OIS as well as EIS for absolutely stable shots. (OIS is Optical Image Stabilization and EIS is Electronic Image Stabilization). This is the biggest improvement over the OnePlus 5 and 5T’s camera.

Expectedly, there’s AI support for the camera to detect scenes for color and light management as well as for handling the Bokeh shots in the Portrait mode.

Also, the 16 MP lens can shoot 4K videos at 60 fps and 480 fps slow-motion videos at 720p (HD). This slow-motion can be shot for 3.75 seconds which actually turns out to be a minute long footage. The front camera has a 16 MP lens with f2.0 aperture and gets EIS.

As far as the security is concerned, there’s a fingerprint sensor at the back (below the camera module) and there’s Face Unlock tech. As per the company, the fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock take 0.2 and 0.4 seconds to unlock the phone respectively. The battery is a 3,300 mAh unit and supports Dash charging (but no wireless charging).
