But our fans have requested us to do a performance comparison between Nokia 6 and 3 other top budget smartphones (Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus and Lenovo P2). So, in this article, we will be doing the performance comparison.

  3. Moto G5 Plus: Octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB RAM and Adreno 506 GPU
  4. Lenovo P2: Octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB RAM and Adreno 506 GPU

Based on the specifications on paper, Nokia 6 is the weakest among those, it sports a lower end processor and graphic chipset. But on the actual performance tests, is it true?

BENCHMARK DETAILS

Processor wise Nokia is the weakest among all these smartphones but gaming performance of the device is decent. Why is that?? Here is the answer. Optimization of processor plays a significant role in the device performance and HMD Global is optimized the processor of Nokia 6 at an extent level. Nokia 6’s benchmark score is less than half of what other 3 devices have scored. Nokia 6’s overall score is 297. 

Talking about rest 3 devices – Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus and Lenovo P2, their benchmark scores are very close to one another. They have scored 457, 465 and 464 respectively.

GAMING TEST

When someone talks about the performance of any smartphone, the first thing that comes in our mind is gaming. Everyone wants his/her smartphone to be good for gaming. So, we will do the game testing first. I downloaded the Asphalt 8: Airborne for testing. I played 40 minutes on every device and found amazing results.

Starting with Nokia 6, despite of having low-end processor, the game ran very smoothly on the device. I didn’t feel any lag or stutter while playing the game. One thing that I was fed up with is ‘loading’ time. Initially I thought that Nokia’s Snapdragon 430 processor isn’t able to handle the game but when I played it on other devices, I found that this game actually takes time to load. Graphics rendering on the device is remarkable, thanks to the Adreno 505 graphics processing unit.

Rest three smartphones’ (Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus and Lenovo P2) technical specifications are same, so is their gaming performance. The trio handled this game smoothly. None of them lagged or hanged. Graphics rendering on the trio was similar to Nokia 6. Objects in the game were clearly visible.

APPLICATION SWITCHING

While playing the Asphalt 8 on all four devices, I kept switching between multiple applications. The Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus and Lenovo P2 didn’t show any lag or stutter while application switching. Whereas Nokia 6 lagged multiple times but that’s okay, none of them is very serious.

HEATING TEST

Heating issue is common these days. The more the handset is compact, the more it will heat. And because all the four smartphones – Nokia 6, Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus and Lenovo P2 are compact; I expected them to heat while playing games.

The first smartphones among them to heat in a short period of time are Nokia 6 and Moto G5 Plus. The duo started heating within 15 minutes of playing games. Whereas Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo P2 took time of 20 and 25 minutes respectively to heat.

After 40 minutes, I was barely able to hold Nokia 6 and Moto G5 Plus. They heated at an extent level however, the game as well as handset was operating smoothly. I didn’t feel any lag. Whereas the heat level of Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo P2 was normal. They both were working fine.

BATTERY ENDURANCE

The biggest problem while gaming is power consumption. Let’s about the power consumption of these four smartphones. Before we start, let us tell you battery power of these four handsets.

  1. Nokia 6: 3000 mAh
  2. Moto G5 Plus: 3000 mAh
  3. Redmi Note 4: 4100 mAh
  4. Lenovo P2: 5100 mAh

Talking about the Moto G5 Plus, its battery doesn’t seem to be optimized. I lost almost 65 percent battery within 40 minutes of gaming. Whereas Nokia 6 also has 3000 mAh battery but it seems to be optimized as I lost just 40% battery. Nokia 6 vs Redmi Note 4 vs Moto G5 Plus vs Lenovo P2

Talking about Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo P2, these two devices have bigger battery. Within 40 minutes of gaming, I lost 25 percent and 15 percent battery on the Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo P2 respectively.

CONCLUSION

Talking about the Nokia 6 first, I found that its gaming performance is decent, you should not worry about it if you are a game player. Considering it has a low-end processor, one won’t complain if it lags while switching application. On the other hand, the performance of Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus and Lenovo P2 are identical. They don’t lag at all while gaming or switching applications. Moto G5 Plus is definitely the most powerful beast among all, but if you consider one more thing: price, then Redmi Note 4 is definitely the budget king.
