As scheduled, HMD Global held an event in New Delhi earlier today and launched the much awaited Nokia 6.1 Plus smartphone. The phone was originally launched in China exclusively as the Nokia X6 and it later became 6.1 Plus for the rest of the world. Since last month, Nokia initiated the global rollout of the Nokia 6.1 Plus and finally it has reached India.

Other than this, the Finnish company also announced one more phone, the Nokia 5.1 Plus, but its price is yet to be known. As mentioned, the phone is only announced today, the actual launch will be done in the near future.

Clearly, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is a bigger sibling to the Nokia 5.1 which is already on sale in India. The Plus model sports a larger 5.84-inch display of the IPS LCD variety (against the 5.5-inch display of the 5.5), however, the more noticeable difference is the presence of the notch in the Plus model. This makes its look similar to the 6.1 Plus (and definitely to that American iModel)!

But we are disappointed to see that the resolution is actually lower than in the Nokia 5.1. The Plus model delivers HD+ resolution while the non-Plus 5.1 delivers Full HD+. This is weird because the Plus model should ideally be on par with numbers and specifications if not better compared to its smaller variant.

Coming to the processor, the 5.1 Plus carries the Helio P60 chipset from MediaTek. This is combined with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 400 GB. The performance will be modest, at best.

The main camera is a dual camera module with 13 MP (f2.0) + 5 MP lenses while at the front, there’s an 8 MP lens. The battery is a 3,060 mAh unit. Keep watching this space for pricing related updates.
