0 1,211

Motorola has unveiled three mid-range smartphones under the new family of Moto G6. The phones are Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and Moto G6 Plus. Being siblings to each other, they do share certain features while there are enough differences as well.

WHAT IS COMMON?

The Moto G6, Play and the Plus come with Android Oreo out of the box. The display unit in all three phones is an IPS LCD panel with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Furthermore, all three phones get a fingerprint sensor below the screen as well as an LED flash for their front cameras. Also, they get unlimited storage on Google Photos for both photos and videos. Lastly, the batteries in all three phones support fast charging and get a 15W Turbo charger in the box. Apparently, it gets the battery up to 50% in 25 minutes.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT?

Moto G6: This lies in the middle of its G6 family. The Moto G6 is powered by the Snapdragon 450 processor with either 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM for 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage respectively. The Adreno 506 is there for doing GPU duties.

The display measures 5.7 inches delivering Full HD+ (1080p x 2160p) resolution. At the back, there’s a dual camera setup with the primary lens of 12 MP and a secondary lens of 5 MP. The main lens gets an aperture of f1.8. It can record up to 1080p videos at 60 fps. The front camera is an 8 MP unit. The battery is a 3,000 mAh unit. Price is EUR 250.

Moto G6 Play: This is the least powerful device in this trio. Powered by the Snapdragon 430 chipset, the Moto G6 Play gets 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. There’s no option here.

Moto G6 Play

The screen measures the same as the Moto G6 with 5.7 inches, however, it delivers HD+ (720p x 1,440p) resolution. The GPU is Adreno 505 (308 for US markets). As far as the camera is concerned, it’s a single-lens 13 MP unit at the back with the aperture size of f2.0. It can also shoot up to 1080p videos but only at 30 fps. The front camera is an 8 MP unit. Perhaps, the most impressive thing about the phone is its 4,000 mAh battery.

Price is EUR 200. We find it a bit ironic that a phone which has the word “Play” in its name comes with such uninspiring specs. We indeed thought that it will be a gaming oriented phone. Talk about misleading names!

Moto G6 Plus: The most likeable phone in this group, the Moto G6 Plus gets the Snapdragon 630 processor along with 4 GB or 6 GB RAM options and 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage respectively.

Moto G6 Plus

The display is the biggest of the trio at 5.9 inches which delivers Full HD+ resolution. There’s a dual camera at the back with the combination of 12 MP + 5 MP primary and secondary lenses. The 12 MP primary lens also gets the biggest aperture in this group with f1.7. This is also the only phone in this group which can record 4K videos. The front camera is an 8 MP unit. The battery is a respectable 3,200 mAh unit.

Price is EUR 300.

Out of the three, the Moto G6 and the Moto G6 Play will be available in Europe, US and Asian markets while the Moto G6 Plus will be available only in European and Asian markets.
