While the major attention is on the upcoming Note 8 as far as Samsung is concerned, the Galaxy S8 Active is taking its share of limelight every now and then. The latter may not be far away from the launch.
In a latest leak, some of the clearest images of the toughened S8 device have appeared providing great detail into its design and features. First off, the body appears to be made of polycarbonate material along with the metallic frame for the overall rough and tough use. The polycarbonate body shall prevent the device from getting scratches and smudges or the fingerprints that are usually visible on shiny metal or the glass finish.
From the front, the phone seems to maintain the screen to body ratio of the standard S8, that is, the screen dominant display. However, it is naturally not a curved display anymore, but a more standard layout, because of the bigger and strengthened edges. Of course, there is no physical button at the front either.
The back sports the usual Samsung branding as well as mentions ‘Galaxy S8 Active’ near the bottom of the bodywork. The camera, flash and the fingerprint sensor arrangement clearly match that on the S8/S8+. Specifications of the camera are going to remain same in all likeliness.
The most important feature, yet, is the protection from the various environmental elements. The handset will be IP68 certified, but more than that, it will also get MIL-STD-810G certification making it resistant towards salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation and thermal shocks as well.
Rest of the specifications will be unchanged – 5.8-inch SuperAMOLED display, Snapdragon 835 processor with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage which will be expandable up to 256 GB. The battery is a huge 4,000mAh for prolonged life.
