Huawei P20 Lite Pros. & Cons. Review: the Only Worthy Smartphone in this Range?

0 2,133

Huawei P20 Lite has been launched under ₹20,000 price range and we certainly don’t have many smartphones in this range comparing to that ₹10-15,000 range crowded with numerous handsets. And this is the reason we compared this handset with Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 7 Plus that come with a less and high price tag respectively.

Anyway, I have been using the Huawei P20 Lite as my daily driver for more than 30 days and now I am ready to share the pros. and cons. of this handset. Before I walk you through the in-depth observation, have a look on its specifications.

Huawei P20 Lite Pros. & Cons 1

Huawei P20 Lite Pros.

1. Design & Build Quality: The Huawei P20 Lite is entirely made out of glass, same as the Honor 9 Lite. And the blue color variant, that we have, looks just mesmerizing. The handset is compact and people with small palm can easily reach to any corner of the screen. But after all this, I would like to warn you that it is extremely slippery and if you are buying it or already have it; use a case.

2. Great Camera: For this price, the Huawei P20 Lite does come with a great camera setup. Photos taken from this handset are better than any other smartphone available under ₹20,000 range. Even the front camera of this handset is very good, though the beauty mode is extreme. Additionally, the handset comes with dedicated “Night Mode” which takes almost 20 seconds to click a photo but when you see the final output; no phone can stand against it in terms of details, color accuracy, sharpness and photo quality. Normal lowlight photos are good. I personally love the details though it overexposes the light part sometimes. Check all those comparisons done using this handset here.

3. Good Performance: I won’t say that its performance is great but it is definitely good. Normal gaming, social media apps and other multimedia apps just work fine. Multi-tasking is also good as I didn’t have any issue while switching between apps. During my 30 days of use, I have been playing these four games on a daily basis – PUBG Mobile, Modern Combat 5, Hopeless Land and Gangster Vegas. And the handset was able to handle all these games smoothly.

4. Superfast Facial Recognition & Fingerprint Sensor: Its facial recognition feature work like charm and it just unlocks in a blink. Even during lowlight, this feature works smoothly. Same goes for fingerprint sensor. It is as fast as Xiaomi-branded phones. With 360 degrees input support, its fingerprint sensor unlocks the device in a blink.

Huawei P20 Lite Cons.

1. Graphics Performance is Below Average: While the Huawei P20 Lite doesn’t disappoint in performance, it does leave you frustrated when it comes to graphics rendering. Its graphics processing unit is weak and that’s the reason I have noticed frame drops too often in PUBG and Modern Combat 5. For this price, I think the company should have given a better processor.

2. Superfast Battery Drainage: This is the most ridiculous issue with this phone. The battery drains very fast when you play heavy online games like Modern Combat and PUBG Mobile. I generally do several hours of gaming in the night and I had to recharge the phone every 3 hours.

Our Verdict

As I told you before, we don’t have many smartphones in this price range. Under ₹20,000 range, the Huawei P20 Lite stands at number one position when it comes to camera; followed by Redmi Note 5 Pro and Nokia 6.1. But if we talk about performance, the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Nokia 6.1 have an edge.

Anyway, this handset has so much to offer for this price. From a mesmerizing all-glass physical design to great camera, the Huawei P20 Lite won’t disappoint you. Its processor also does its job however, I am a bit disappointed with its graphics and battery performance. So if you are not much of gamer, you can go for it.
