Headphones Explode on a Woman’s Face; Apple Claims Battery Issue

While on a flight to Melbourne from Beijing, a woman using a headset connected with Apple device exploded in flames and led to facial injuries.

The Australian Traffic Safety Agency reported that the woman was listening to music and went to sleep and after about two hours, one of the headphones exploded and woke her up from sleep. She said, “When I woke up, I felt the face burnt, and I grabbed the face. The headset near the neck still felt hot and I threw it to the ground.”

Apple has now explained this issue and have stated the faulty third party battery being used in the headset.

The woman expressed disappointment with Apple’s response as she stated that the headset nor it’s packaging specify which battery brand should be used with it. Although, the woman stated that she bought the battery in Australia but is not clear about the manufacture and the model. The woman also claimed to have used AAA battery in her Beats for Apple headphones

From the result of the explosion, the woman’s face, neck and chest were burnt, her clothes were damaged, she is seeking compensation from Apple. From the survey results, it seems that her desire is a bit too difficult to achieve.
