Xiaomi entered in the gaming smartphone segment with Black Shark gaming smartphone back in April this year. The smartphone carried flagship specs and was gaming-centric with great features. Adding to its gaming lineup the company is adding its successor with Black Shark 2 to compete with recently launched Razer Phone 2. The gaming smartphone might launch soon internationally.
The company had recently certified a successor for its Black Shark smartphone on Chinese regulatory TENAA, which suggests a new version of the smartphone will arrive soon. The Global version of the company has teased an upcoming international release that is surely referred to the Black Shark 2.
Meanwhile, there’s nothing much in the website, rather than a bold poster of the Black Shark with green colors “Shark Approaching” and “Unleashing soon” messages. There’s no information about the device release. But taking into consideration that the Xiaomi’s major rival, Razer, has just announced the Razer Phone 2, the Black Shark 2 might be on the way. The company might be preparing the handset for a global release to directly compete with Razer’s new gaming smartphone, and the Asus ROG gaming phone as well.
Talking about the specs, the Black Shark 2 might come with specs that are similar to its competitor. The phone might come with the flagship Snapdragon 845 SoC and 8 GB of RAM. However, Xiaomi’s specifications stand out of its rival since it offers 128 GB of onboard storage. The Black Shark resembles the design of its predecessor and might keep it.
The gaming smartphone segment still needs to create its space in the smartphone segment. There are no games in the Google Play Store that require some sort of specialized gaming smartphone. However, games such as PUBG and Fortnite are some of the games that need high processing power and are suitable for a gaming smartphone.
