As far as Samsung is concerned, it is the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 which is taking most of the limelight as its launch date of August 23 gets nearer with each passing day. However, there is another phone which has its own fan following – Galaxy S8 Active.
We know it is coming and we also have a fair idea about its design and what it is going to pack. Now though, details have come out, or have been leaked, confirming its various specifications. We knew almost all of them.
First of all, the screen – it will be similar to the S8 display in terms of resolution (5.8 inches, 2960 x 1440 with infinity edge feature), but it will not be of edge to edge variety due to the toughened and larger frame. On the extra, the display is shatter resistant if it is dropped from as much as 5 feet. It carries the IP68 certification from the standard S8 making it dust and water resistant as well. The frame is metallic while the rest of the body is made of polycarbonate.
We would like to remind our readers that the strengthened bodywork is the primary feature of the Active variant and the device gets military-grade toughness. The shared features continue with the Snapdragon 835 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage, rear 12 mega-pixel camera and the front 8 mega-pixel camera.
However, the operating is the Android Nougat 7.0 (not 7.1.1 or 7.1.2). The battery is more powerful too at 4,000mAh promising longer running time.
We still do not know about the launch date of the S8 Active, but it would very well be announced alongside the Note 8. Keep watching this space for more information.
