Apple gets support from Foxxcon in the Fight against Qualcomm

0 267

That Apple and Qualcomm have locked horns recently in a court of law is well known. The world’s most popular mobile phone chip maker filed a case against Apple for not paying for the use of its patents. Interestingly, the situation has taken a dramatic turn as four other companies – Foxconn, Compal, Pegatron and Winstron – have shown support to Apple in the legal battle against Qualcomm.

These four companies who are all involved in making iPhones and iPads alleged, you guessed it right, that Qualcomm is overcharging for its patents licenses and has also violated anti-trust laws. No doubt, this must come as an unpleasant surprise to the chip maker.

Of course, this story and its developments have got a lot of attention on the internet and people have been discussing the same. Reactions range from funny to serious opinions.

One interesting observation about the whole situation is how the two primary companies are reacting to it. While Apple has openly said that it leaves everything to the court to decide which means the iphone maker will accept the court’s verdict whatever it is going to be, Qualcomm, on the other hand, believes that the matter would most likely be settled out of court as the company CEO, Steve Mollenkopf, recently pointed out. He went on to say “This’ll be no different. These things tend to get resolved out of court and there’s no reason why I wouldn’t expect that to be the case here… That’s really the way it works.”

Looking at the above statement, people on various websites and forums seem to think that Qualcomm may not really be confident of their own case and indeed fears to lose out.

Keep watching this space for more information on this.
